EAA Chapter 288 at Spruce Creek is the Daytona Beach FL chapter and is where pilot Steve Wood is Young Eagles coordinator.

The chapter has a large number of members and a huge inventory of airplanes, both flying and under construction. Indeed, on the annual 'hanger tour' it's always amazing to see undiscovered projects amongst the many 'know' builds.

Chapters members were instrumental in getting 'GOOFY' to the starting line, or at least ready to get its airworthiness certificate on the day of the 100th anniversary of flight - many thanks to them all.

It seems that never a month goes by without the first flight of a new homebuilt, such is the undoubted endeavours of 288 chapter members.

Chapter 288 has now received IRS charitable not-for-profit status which will help with projects such as the recent flight lessons for a young recently disabled youth - visit the CBS webpage.

Spruce Creek is also home to the 'Gaggle Flight'. So named after the Saturday morning breakfast formation flights which sometimes resemble a 'gaggle'. Often there are over 20 airplanes flying in flights of three or four, setting out to breakfast. 'Goofy", or at least its pilot, really appreciates being allowed to fly the only high wing airplane in these gaggle flights. Formation flying really does enhance the flying discipline, and whilst not for everyone with the right training and practice it can be a most rewarding experience, despite the exhausting concentration.
