The 'Four Corners' Flight Around America was conceived as an interesting way to get from Florida to Dayton OH for the start of the AirVenture Cup air race.

Whilst the initial idea has grown somewhat from simply taking a longer route to Dayton, the air race is an integral part of the flight.

Steve Wood flew 'GOOFY' in the 2004 race from Dayton OH to Oshkosh WI, as Race # 7 acting as a 'race chase' airplane since the Sprint Class in which the GlaStar would have had to be flown due to its engine size was normally comprised of high-speed canards! Without any handicap (handicaps are not used for the AirVenture Cup race) it did not make sense to fully race the airplane as the GlaStar is not meant for speed. However, it turned out that a Skystar Vixen had entered this class which meant that 'GOOFY' would not have in fact been last after all, and posted a respectable time of 3.37.03 (112.50 kts) compared to the Skystar's time of 4.56.15 (82.42 kts). The slowest canard posted a time of 2.55.22 (139.25 kts)!

Steve also flew a race chase Twin Commanche with pilot 'Sal' DeVincenzo in the 2003 race which was run from Kitty Hawk NC to Oshkosh WI, with a stop-over at Dayton OH.
